Our Story:
For 20 years, The Charleston Hardware Company has specialized in curating and reproducing antique hardware from the Colonial, Victorian, and Art Deco eras.
Our story began in 1999 when owner Brad Williams restored a circa-1900 house on New Street in historic Charleston. After struggling to find period appropriate doorknobs for the house, he decided to take matters into his own hands and establish an antique hardware reproduction business.
By offering support in the design, selection, and installation phases of creating the perfect home -- we have been able to provide hundreds of customers with precise replicas of antique hardware to complement their taste.
Charleston Hardware Company caters to architects, designers, homeowners, and historians all over the country, who are looking to restore the past.
How does it work?
We have four foundries that reproduce the original antique patterns that we collect: a lock maker, a glass maker, a ceramics maker and a plater.
Each piece is made using the same techniques that were originally used over 125 years ago. Charleston Hardware is the only hardware company casting in the original composition of bronze.
We also offer complete suites of each pattern we’ve reproduced, allowing hardware throughout the house to match. Window and kitchen hardware, doorknobs, hinges, swing doors, shutters and entry door sets are just a few of many.
