Our 1-3/4" backset mortise bolts are perfect on interior doors with narrow stiles.  We recommend our turn pieces and emergency release escutcheons for the hall side. A flat head screw driver or a decorative emeregency release key will open the door. Sold separately

Mortise bolts are ideally centered on the lock stile.  The spindle hub should have access from both sides of the door: a turn access on the interior and an emergency access on the exterior.  The turn piece spindle needs to be cut so that it will be in the center of the hub, which will leave room for an emergency access key or similar tool to access and turn the hub from the exterior.
