Colonial American hardware was initially all wrought iron made by local blacksmiths.  Even screws were handmade.  Brass hardware was imported and was considerably more expensive.  Undersized doorknobs were commonly used to conserve brass.  Detailing was plain with the occasional turning of a doorknob foot. Locks were imported from England until about 1840.

This keyed rim lock measures 3-1/8" x 4-3/4" x 5/8". It comes with two keys.  Would pair well with our solid brass colonial doorknobs or our ceramic doorknobs. Choose between left and right handed locks. Right hand lock is shown.
